Today we are in part 4 of our series called “Go For It!” We know that it can feel weird talking to others about Jesus. When the subject of church or faith come up, it’s easier to shy away and think friends, neighbors, or coworkers are uninterested in what you have to say. But do you remember what it was like to have someone tell you about Jesus and their faith journey for the first time? In this series, focusing specifically on our calling as a church of helping people find and follow Jesus and learn how we can do that in a helpful way.
This isn’t about getting people to go to church. This is about getting the church to go to people.

KEY BIBLE VERSES AND NOTES 💡
All verses are NIV unless otherwise noted
Series Big Idea
We are going to learn how to help people we love find the God who loves them.
Question
Am I willing to put at stake what I currently have for the opportunity to have something better?
Acts 4:23 (NIV) On their release, Peter and John went back to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them.
Acts 4:24 When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. “Sovereign Lord,” they said, “you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them.
Acts 4:29-30 Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
Boldness is fearless confidence
Acts 4:31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
Acts 5:12 The apostles performed many signs and wonders among the people. And all the believers used to meet together in Solomon’s Colonnade.
Acts 5:17-18 Then the high priest and all his associates, who were members of the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail.
Questions?
What keeps you from talking about Jesus?
What’s your jail?
Acts 5:19-20 But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out. “Go, stand in the temple courts,” he said, “and tell the people all about this new life.”
Acts 5:21 At daybreak they entered the temple courts, as they had been told, and began to teach the people.
Acts 5:28 “We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name,” he said. “Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man’s blood.”
Acts 5:38 Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail.
Acts 5:39 But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.”
Acts 5:40-41 They called the apostles in and had them flogged. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.
Acts 5:42 Day after day, in the __________________…… they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Messiah.
