Blockchain and the Australian Book Publishing industry: The No Point in Stopping Project



The book publishing industry is undergoing significant digital disruption that is fundamentally challenging long established practices. Blockchain technology is a digital ledger that can potentially transform the industry’s business models. While numerous studies examine blockchain’s benefits for writers, few experiments globally explore how blockchain can solve problems facing the publisher in terms of rights management, royalty payments and distribution. The video showcases the 2018 Catapult project No Point in Stopping, a novel publisher-centred blockchain system developed by QUT researchers in collaboration with the Brisbane-based publisher Tiny Owl Workshop.
