Gas Station Fillup with Bitcoin – #LifeonBitcoin

NOTE: This is NOT what the documentary film will look like. This was filmed on Austin’s Samsung Galaxy S4 late at night. The documentary will, thanks to your generous backing, have a *much* higher production value.

When *every* expense is paid for with bitcoin, how do you fill up an empty gas tank? For us, we’ve had to rely on the bitcoin community, and one man in particular. For the first 4 weeks of our 12 week adventure, we’ve filled up our tank with the help of Furb, who works at the Phillip’s 66 west of Salt Lake International Airport, 53 miles from our house.

This is our first time going. We’d been driving for about two weeks on what was in our tank before we got married, and with a little gas that some clever friends bought us as a wedding gift.

Furb works the graveyard shift on the weekends, so we’ve driven up late after work. With approval from the store manager, Furb opens the pump, we fill up, pay him in bitcoin, and he pays the register with his store credit.

We also filled some gas cans, got a car wash, and loaded up on snacks. Maybe an odd Thursday night outing, but we were pretty happy with it.

Furb, thank so much. We’d be stranded without you.
